City cycling 2025: We were there!

BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg took 3rd place in the "most active cycling team" category in the "City Cycling" competition in Cottbus! A big thank you to everyone who took part!

In 2025, it was once again time to get on your bike and collect kilometres! The city of Cottbus once again took part in the Germany-wide "City Cycling" competition and BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg was of course fully involved.

Under the leadership of Prof. Peer Schmidt (Vice-President for Academic Affairs), all BTU locations pedalled together to set a strong example for sustainable mobility.

From 1 to 21 May 2025, they diligently collected kilometres - whether on the way to university, to work or in their free time. With 203 active cyclists, the BTU was one of the largest teams in Cottbus and once again achieved 3rd place in the "most active cycling team" category with 32,665 kilometres - a great success that we can be proud of. Our most active cyclist M. Krüger accepted the certificate on behalf of the entire BTU team at the official award ceremony on 22 June 2025 as part of the Cottbus City Festival.

"We are delighted to have won third place - BTU is showing that environmentally friendly mobility and fitness are an integral part of the everyday lives of our university members. It's not just these three weeks of action that are important to us, but a year-round commitment," says team captain Prof. Peer Schmidt.

Many thanks to all participants - and see you next year!
