Explore the BTU in Cottbus and Senftenberg on Future Day

On Thursday 23 April 2026, from 9 am to 2 pm, pupils in Years 9 to 13 can gain fascinating insights into modern study programmes and various career paths at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU).

An informative programme featuring a wide range of workshops, experiments, talks, and campus and laboratory tours awaits young people here at the Future Day for Girls and Boys in the State of Brandenburg.
The BTU is opening its doors at its main campus in Cottbus – where it will also showcase programmes offered by the Cottbus-Sachsendorf campus – and at the Campus Senftenberg.

Discover study programmes with a future

Once again, the event offers the opportunity to get a taste of the wide and modern range of courses at the University of Lusatia and to experience student life, depending on your interests.
Participants can choose from activities in the following areas: STEM – Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics and Information Technology; Environment and Natural Sciences; Mechanical Engineering; Electrical and Energy Systems; Human Sciences; Economics, Law and Society; as well as Architecture, Civil Engineering and Urban Planning.

The programme begins at 9 am in the Central Lecture Theatre Building on the Cottbus main campus and at the Konrad Zuse Media Centre in Senftenberg with presentations on all the BTU’s undergraduate study options and the application process. Opportunities for study abroad and internships will also be highlighted. Further information will be available from 10 am in the foyers at the stands of the student guidance and counselling service. The respective canteens will be open to provide refreshments.

At the Cottbus main campus, the extremely varied programme will be complemented by the exhibition ‘Hands-on Engineering’. It offers lectures on co-op and international study programmes, as well as a series of specific course presentations ranging from Architecture to Physics, and provides information on flying in the age of climate change. Young people can follow the restoration of the power grid after a blackout or familiarise themselves with experimental research in civil engineering. They will learn how robots and artificial intelligence influence our lives, what a degree in Social Work entails, and how Mathematics can safeguard art. Those interested can familiarise themselves with the topics of start-ups and self-employment and take guided tours to explore modern laboratories and the university library. Microorganisms can also be observed under a fluorescence microscope. The MINT escape room offers particular challenges, subject to prior booking.

At the Campus Senftenberg, the programme will continue at 10 am – as in Cottbus – with a campus tour and insights into everyday student life. Talks will focus in particular on the Primary School Teaching study programme, the wide range of dual study options at the BTU, and – combined with a laboratory tour – on ‘Plastics, Biotechnology and 3D Printing’. The programme also includes laboratory insights on the topic of “Microorganisms and Cells in Biotechnology” and a workshop in medical technology on 3D printing of orthoses. Several activities, including a university seminar on “Mathematical difficulties in primary education”, help young people to familiarise themselves more closely with teacher training. The University Library at the Senftenberg campus is offering a guided tour and, during an information session, will answer questions on media, sport, fitness, health and internet law.
