Study your passion! Choose the artistic-educational degree programme in Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy and earn a Bachelor of Music degree after eight semesters! You can choose between the fields of study ‘Classical’ and ‘Jazz/Rock/Pop’, each with a major in harmony instrument, melody instrument or singing, and the field of study ‘Elementary Music Education’ with an instrument or singing, either from the areas of ‘Classical’ or ‘Jazz/Rock/Pop’. In addition to artistic training in individual and ensemble lessons, you will learn essential pedagogical and musical fundamentals in theory and practice, and have a wide range of options for developing your individual profile.

Aptitude Test

Admission to the programme is contingent upon passing an aptitude test.
The next aptitude tests for the start of the programme in the winter semester 2026/27 will take place on 26 June 2026 and 4 September 2026. Current information on the application process can be found here.

Practical Training and Dual IGP Studies

Starting in the winter semester 2026/27, Instrumental and Vocal pedagogy can also be studied as a dual degree programme (8 semesters with intensified practical training. 
The pilot project will initially be launched in cooperation with the Cottbus Conservatory.
The examination and study regulations will be published in the Official Gazette after the notification period has expired at the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg.

Der abwechslungsreiche Studienaufbau, der schöne Campus und die freundliche Atmosphäre an der Uni haben mich sofort begeistert. Das Beste am Studium ist die Verbindung von künstlerischer und pädagogischer Ausbildung.

Mit dem IGP-Studium ist man nicht auf eine berufliche Tätigkeit festgelegt und kann schon im Studium berufliche Erfahrungen sammeln. Am meisten gefällt mir, dass ich in meinem jeweiligen Haupt- und Nebenfach im Einzelunterricht ausgebildet werde und mich so individuell entwickeln kann.

Mit günstigen Mieten, vielen Auftrittsmöglichkeiten und einem sehr guten Betreuungsverhältnis ist in Cottbus der Rahmen für ein entspanntes und erfolgreiches Studium gegeben.

Ich finde es super. Durch die familiäre Atmosphäre des Studienganges gibt es viel Raum für die persönliche, musikalische Entwicklung. Das war mir besonders wichtig.
