A delegation from Bar-Ilan University visited BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg
The varied program offered the guests, on the one hand, the opportunity to visit the chairs of Computer Science (Prof. Michael Hübner, currently Vice President for Research and Transfer), Micro and Nano Systems (Prof. Harald Schenk) and Automation Technology (Prof. Ulrich Berger). In addition, they visited the CreativeOpenLab (CoLab) on the BTU campus. Excursions to the Adlershof Technology Park, IRIS-Adlershof (Hybrid Devices Group) and IHP Frankfurt (Oder), the Leibniz-Institute for Innovations for High Performance Electronics, were also on the agenda.
The BTU has maintained close cooperative relations with the BIU for many years, in particular with the Faculty of Engineering there as well as the head of the Nanoelectronics Track and the Emerging Nanoscaled Integrated Circuits and Systems Lab, Prof. Alex Fish. In addition to regular exchanges and lecture tours, several joint project proposals for research on own novel chip architectures could already be realized.
The BIU is considered an excellent, internationally renowned university in Israel, whose teaching and research profile is an excellent match for that of the BTU. Especially in the areas of chip design, test and evaluation, the BIU offers extraordinarily interesting scientific opportunities. The Israeli partners can contribute their competencies in the areas of circuit-level chip design and thus help to teach students, doctoral candidates and scientists at the BTU in this highly important area of low-power chip design and to conduct research on common topics. The BTU, in particular the MINT faculty with its focus in the area of Embedded Systems and beyond in the topics of High Frequency Technology and Security, is of great interest to the students and staff of the BIU. Overarching topics such as the "Internet of Things", "Cyberpyhsical Systems" as well as "Industry 4.0" can thus benefit from the bundling and utilization of the various competencies.
With the ERASMUS+ project, which has been running since 2020, this research cooperation has been continued accordingly and intensified through exchanges of students and scientists*. The recent delegation visit has contributed significantly to deepening joint activities in teaching and research and at the same time identifying new potential areas of cooperation.
