Humboldt visits Cottbus

International research fellows of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation get to know the Lausitz Science Park and the BTU with selected structural change projects.

On August 19 and 22, we had the great pleasure of welcoming 54 international research fellows from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) and presenting them with our vision of an innovative landscape with international appeal in Lusatia.

In Cottbus, the Humboldtians were able to find out first-hand how the city and the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg are tackling structural change and what role science and business, research and development play in concrete terms. They not only got to know the LSP - including a trip across the former Cottbus-Nord airfield - but also the Cottbus Energy Innovation Center (EIZ), the Center for Hybrid Electric Systems Cottbus (chesco) and the CreativeOpenLab (COLab). The two days were characterized by exchange, understanding, valuable encounters and inspiring insights.

The AvH funds international research collaborations and enables highly qualified foreign scientists to spend long-term research stays in Germany. Following the example of Alexander von Humboldt, the AvH maintains an international network of over 26,000 alumni - the so-called Humboldtians - including 50 Nobel Prize winners.
The postdocs from a wide range of nationalities and disciplines are currently traveling all over Germany again to get to know the cultural, political, economic and social diversity of our country.

Thank you very much for your visit!
