Professional Fields of Activity
The English-language international Master's programme in Mathematics trains graduates for independent work as mathematicians in industry and business, as well as at universities and research institutions. The programme fosters the development of a professional self-image that is oriented towards the standards of professional conduct as a mathematician, both within and outside of academia. Graduates acquire detailed and specialized knowledge and skills that enable them to independently apply methods and ways of thinking to the use of mathematical models and procedures in the analysis and resolution of mathematical problems. They will also be empowered to act independently and to pursue lifelong professional development in line with the current demands of their careers. Furthermore, they will acquire the ability to critically examine the prerequisites, limitations, and impact of applying mathematical methods to socially relevant problems. Furthermore, graduates can engage in subject-specific exchanges with representatives from application areas regarding mathematical models, theoretically justifiable problem solutions and their alternatives. In doing so, they can transfer their knowledge and acquired skills in methods and ways of thinking for the application of mathematical models and procedures to new fields of application.
