Europe workshop in Cottbus

Different workshops and discussion events ( e.g. a creative writing workshop, a photography workshop and a dialogue-event for different generations ) are offered by the Stiftung Zukunft Berlin, the Walter Hallstein Institut (Humboldt University Berlin) and the International Journalist programmes e.V. (IJP). The project is financed by Stiftung Mercator.

The Stiftung Zukunft Berlin, the Walter Hallstein-Institut at Humboldt University Berlin and the International Journalist Programmes e.V. (IJP) have collaborated in the three-year-project "We are Europe" since 2017. After having organized "Europe Workshops" in Magdeburg, Erfurt, Greifswald, Berlin, Gelsenkirchen and Zittau during the last two years, the next workshop is about to take place in Cottbus on March 5 and 6, 2020. Cottbus' Mayor Holger Kelch supports the events.

The workshop-days carry the title : We are Europe! - But what does that mean?

1. All of us are Europe, you, me, no matter the profession or age - not only the specialists, EU politicians or associates
2.  Europe is constructed from below by the cities and regions, who, together, comprise Europe
3. We cooperate with European neighbours and decision-makers.

The basis of the project is the so-called "Basisgruppe", which is comprised of students at Humboldt University Berlin, artists from the Stiftung Zukunft Berlin network "A Soul for Europe" , and journalists from all over Europe. The people in this group understand themselves as multipliers of the European idea and discuss the topic of responsibility within the European project with citiziens of different cities in Europe.

The programme can be found here. More information is available on the project's Blog .
