Benefit concert for victims of the Ukraine war

Lecturers from the music degree programs at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg will play on Sunday, March 27, starting at 5 p.m. for the benefit of those affected by the war in Ukraine and invite you to the concert hall in Building 7 on the Cottbus-Sachsendorf campus.

The benefit concert will feature works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Johannes Brahms, Stephan Braun, Frédéric Chopin, John Kennedy, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Russo and Franz Schubert. Performing and singing are: Nala Baik, Veronika Glemser and Prof. Wolfgang Glemser, Prof. Dr. Bert Greiner, Dr. Stephan Lewandowski, Prof. Simone Schröder and Krzysztof Switalski.

"What is happening in Ukraine at the moment is a humanitarian catastrophe," explains the head of the Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy program and the Department of Voice / Didactics of Voice Prof. Simone Schröder. "As a sign against violence and oppression, we dedicate the concert to the people of Ukraine. "We are moved by the courage and determination of Ukrainians who defend their country, their lives and their freedom."

Admission to the benefit concert is free. Donations are requested. It is also requested to reserve a seat in the concert hall in advance - by phone 0355 5818 901 or e-mail angela.harmuth(at)b-tu.de. The proceeds of the concert will go to the National Academy of Music of Ukraine "Peter Tchaikovsky" in Kiev, where teaching can currently hardly take place and whose lecturers support the national defense as civilians and perform humanitarian tasks. The academy and the BTU's instrumental and vocal pedagogy program are linked by an exchange of lecturers. Also, a large number of the faculty and students have acquaintances, friends or colleagues in Ukraine.

"We think that the music of the composers who will be heard in this concert has the potential to move the inclined listener to inner contemplation and to help him find inner peace. We also want to bring this message to the outside world," says Bernhard Dolch, lecturer in classical guitar, who is involved in organizing the benefit concert.
