Study instrumental and vocal pedagogy on probation

At BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, it is possible to combine a music degree with pedagogical training. From Tuesday to Thursday, April 19 to 21, 2022, interested parties can convince themselves of the advantages of the multifaceted study program Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy at the Cottbus-Sachsendorf campus.

In addition to a presentation of the program by its director Prof. Simone Schröder, the program of the trial study includes lectures on formal theory, stylistics, music pedagogy and music history, composition, instrumental studies and elementary music making. In addition to the teachers, students help students get a taste of what it's like to study and pass on valuable tips and experiences in a discussion group. Even individual lessons in the main subjects instruments and singing are possible after registration under the e-mail address simone.schroeder(at)b-tu.de, whereby the own instruments should not be forgotten. All this is free of charge.

The artistic-pedagogical program Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy (IGP) leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree in instrumental or vocal pedagogy in eight semesters. In the classical music major, the major subjects offered are orchestral instruments, piano, guitar, accordion, recorder, voice, and in the popular music major, it is piano, electric guitar, electric bass, percussion, saxophone, trumpet, voice.

In the university orchestra Collegium musicum and the university choir, in chamber music ensembles and in jazz/rock/pop ensembles, students gain practical experience, enrich the cultural life on campus, in Cottbus and beyond.

The professional fields of activity after graduation include teaching an instrument, singing, or elementary music education at public or private music schools, as well as working as independent music educators.

"With the IGP program, you are not tied to a specific profession and can gain professional experience while still studying," says student Nina Fiedler. What I like most is that I get one-on-one training in my respective major and minor, so I can develop individually."

To the trial studies at the BTU Pupils*innen of the tenth to twelfth classes as well as all other study prospective customers are invited in the summer semester 2022 again to inform under the slogan ?first try, then study? in operational readiness level about contents of numerous courses of studies and later occupation fields. While all other events will not begin until June 28, the trial study of instrumental and vocal pedagogy will already kick off from April 19 to 21.
