Awarding of the German Scholarships at the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg

In recognition of their excellent academic achievements and social commitment, 19 students at Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg will receive a Germany Scholarship in the academic year 2022/23.

On October 28, 2022, Prof. Dr. Gesine Grande, President of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, and Prof. Dr. Peer Schmidt, Vice President for Studies and Teaching at the university, will present the scholarship certificates to the scholarship holders. The award-winning young people are studying applied mathematics, architecture, civil engineering, business administration, biotechnology, cyber security, electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering and therapeutic sciences. Scholarship sponsors are ten regionally active companies, foundations and associations.

BTU President Prof. Gesine Grande says: "It is a great pleasure for me to present the certificates to our young talents. The scholarships are an acknowledgement, motivation and support for the students at the same time. My heartfelt thanks go to the donors. Their support makes it possible to promote the development of our dedicated young talent and make our university an attractive and inspiring place to study."

As part of the Deutschlandstipendien program, private sponsors and the federal government jointly support promising young academics: scholarship holders are supported with 300 euros per month so that they can realize their potential during their studies and continue to contribute to society with a high level of commitment. Private sponsors contribute 150 euros, while the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) finances 150 euros. The Deutschlandstipendium thus represents an alliance of civil society commitment and state funding.

In addition to very good academic performance, the selection criteria include social or political commitment. Special achievements, awards and prizes or a previous professional activity and internships also count. The Brandenburg University of Technology has been awarding Germany scholarships every year since 2011.

This year, AFA AG, ARCUS Planung + Beratung - Bauplanungsgesellschaft mbH, cronos customer experience AG, Deutsche Bahn AG, Deutsche Maschinentechnische Gesellschaft, Institut für Umwelttechnik und Recycling Senftenberg, Kjellberg-Stiftung, LEAG, Rotary Club Cottbus and the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg Foundation are providing scholarships.
