Successful conclusion of the 2nd Cottbus Europe Weeks

With the event "Dance, Music, Places in Films" the 2nd Cottbus Europe Weeks came to an end on May 31.

The joint initiative of the International Relations Office of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and the Department of Education and Integration of the City of Cottbus/Chóśebuz attracted more than 1,000 interested people to a wide variety of events organized by the numerous cooperation partners on the topic of EUROPE over the past four weeks. Popular formats included, for example, the 1st Cottbus Europe Talks, films, music, workshops, discussion rounds, culinary tastings, readings and Speak Dating.

The Cottbus Europe Weeks are intended to contribute to making the European community and our values more present and tangible in Cottbus around Europe Day on May 9, and also to involve BTU students and Cottbus citizens equally at events. Europe Day is celebrated annually for peace and unity in Europe and marks the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration. The enthusiastic feedback from numerous participants confirms that this has been achieved and allows the organizers to look forward optimistically to the 3rd Cottbus Europe Weeks in May of next year.

The focus of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg's involvement was to make visible its commitment to cooperation with partner universities in other European countries, including that in the higher education alliance "European University for Customised Education" (EUNICE). The department's education office focused on making Europe visible in general. So did the many people of Cottbus who responded to the call to show their flags.

The time until next May will not remain unused. Successful formats such as Speak Dating will be continued this year. There will also be further opportunities for European exchange through the Erasmus+ funding program and the European Solidarity Corps.
