The Max Grünebaum Prizes have been awarded annually for outstanding young scientists and artists. Max Grünebaum Foundation

In May 1997, the grandchildren of Max Grünebaum (1851-1925), who live in England, established the Max Grünebaum Foundation. Their aim is to commemorate the social commitment of their grandfather, the cloth manufacturer, commercial councillor and honorary citizen of Cottbus, who contributed to the establishment of the Cottbus State Theater through financial donations and created social institutions for his workers and the inhabitants of Cottbus through generous donations.
