"Archive 215" exhibition at the Cottbus City Museum
The "Archive 215" exhibition combines regional and international impulses. On 2 May 2024, artist Nemanja Delja and Robert Büschel from the Cottbus City Museum hosted the opening of the exhibition, which was met with great interest, especially from numerous international students. The exhibits, which originate from Lusatia, were fascinatingly complemented by the exhibits from "Archive 215" and attracted the interest of the guests.
His works, based on personal memories, reflect not only his own heritage, but also the importance of culture and identity. In a series of contemplative walks, Delja collected 215 stones in Cottbus (see map), meticulously documenting the process. By engraving his photographs on the stones, he left traces of his memory and thus began a journey to document his life. Delja describes this artwork as "a love letter to the present", emphasising the emotional side of this eight-month process.
Nemanja Delja is a visual artist from Zrenjanin, Serbia. He is currently studying for a Master's degree in World Heritage Studies at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg and a PhD in Scene Design at the University of Novi Sad. In the summer semester 2024, he was awarded a STIBET scholarship for particularly committed students, funded by the DAAD with funds from the Federal Foreign Office. This scholarship is awarded once per semester and supports, among other things, the special commitment of international students at BTU. "We are delighted that students and their projects, such as this one, can be supported through this opportunity," adds Mareike Kunze, Head of the International Relations Office at BTU.
The exhibition can be seen at the Cottbus City Museum until 2 August 2024. Admission is free for individual visits by BTU students until 18 May. Group visits organised by BTU teaching staff have free admission until the end of the exhibition on 2 August 2024.
