Research Day on the magic of artificial intelligence

Exciting demonstrations, lectures and discussions invite the AI-interested public to join in when scientists look to the digital future on June 19, 2024 at the BTU in Cottbus

The Day of Research is taking place for the first time at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU): In particular, the afternoon is not only aimed at scientists*, but also very specifically at interested citizens, students interested in technology, teachers and interested parties from companies and administration.

AI has become an integral part of our lives. Rapidly developing technologies are finding their way into a wide variety of areas: Production, medicine, education, communication, our homes and much more. Interested parties are cordially invited to find out first-hand how AI is shaping our future and what opportunities and challenges are associated with it:

From 12 noon, demonstrators and intelligent drones on the research street in and in front of the Central Lecture Hall Building (ZHG) will give a very clear picture of what AI can do. Sometimes all it takes is a touch and a device reacts immediately. Researchers explain exactly what happens there, why this is the case and what BTU is researching in this context. In addition, a poster presentation offers interesting insights into the topics. - A perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of innovation and be inspired by groundbreaking research results.

While award ceremonies and awards for outstanding research work will take center stage in the morning, lectures and a panel discussion will offer perspectives on AI-specific developments in research and society from 1 p.m. onwards. For example, the focus will be on why AI is changing our world in the long term and how this is happening. It will also explain how Cottbus-based start-up Zander Labs is working on the development of intelligent technologies and brain-computer interfaces, enabling reactions to be generated by brain activity alone with the help of neurosensory technology. The panel discussion will be summarized under the title "Artificial intelligence: Between science and everyday life - How AI is changing our lives".
