Ingeniously creative: exhibition at the Senftenberg site library

Until 30 September 2025, the library at the Senftenberg site of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) is giving interested parties the opportunity to see the creativity of university members for themselves. Painted, photographed, felted, modelled and knotted items are on display.

Last year, the library team launched the public exhibition series "Genial Kreativ" to document the artistic creativity of university members and make the work they produce in their free time accessible to a wide audience. In the second presentation of this series - opened for the Germany-wide Night of Libraries on
on 4 April this year - library staff are not only the organisers, but also provide amazing insights into their own work and that of family members.

Library employee Romy Linge-Bielert is represented here with a large number of exhibits. The exhibition is also enriched by her children Hannah and Henrik as well as the children of Katja Richter, head of the local library, Lena and Tinka. Mum Siegrid Bielert enriches the exhibition with works in knotting technique.

"Let's all embark on a creative journey with moments of genius," said Katja Richter at the exhibition opening, which Romy Linge-Bielert accompanied with a dance performance. In the meantime, not only many BTU members, but also interested parties from the region have accepted the invitation to the Senftenberg site library of the BTU, which is valid until the end of September.

Following the motto "Creativity is contagious - pass it on!", Romy Linge-Bielert showed her first artistic works here back in 1998, when she was still an apprentice, and is represented this time with paintings, photography and works made of felt, among other things. "I'm fascinated by the practical aspects of creating figures using only wool - with needles - or soap and water," she explains. "Some of the figures are made entirely from merino sheep wool, or there is a wire frame hidden under the layer of wool."

The "Genial Kreativ"exhibitioncan be viewed in the library's media centre during the lecture-free period at the BTU Senftenberg site on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 am to 3 pm, Wednesdays from 1 pm to 6 pm and Fridays from 9 am to 2 pm. Access is via the main entrance to the library from Großenhainer Straße, registration is not required and admission is free.
