Online course on housing advice launched

As part of the "Professionalisation of Housing Advice in Brandenburg" (ProWoB) project, an online self-study course on housing for older people has been developed. The main target group is housing advisers, but the course is also open to others who wish to explore the topic of housing for older people.

50th-anniversary reunion on the Campus Senftenberg

Research that is rethinking gardens

At the heart of Prof. Klaus Birkhofer’s research lies an often underestimated insight: gardens are highly complex ecosystems. At the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, on the chair of Ecology, he is investigating how biodiversity develops in urban and rural green spaces and what role predatory arthropods, in particular spiders, play in this process.

LausitzLabs launches in Cottbus: a new education network for structural change

Digital skills, social participation and structural change are the focus of the new educational project LausitzLabs. The project will be presented on Thursday 28 May 2026 at Startblock B2 in Cottbus as part of the public pop-up maker event and the closing event of the exhibition "zusammen:schrauben – A Culture of Repair and Making".

How change comes about

Inside a university building, there are workbenches, old bicycles and boxes full of things that others would have thrown away long ago. Here, students repair, swap and help one another. For BTU researcher Prof. Melanie Jaeger-Erben, this place is more than just a project.

FEM*Lights – Grand closing event for the Women Professors Programme III

As we look back on the run of the Professorinnenprogramm III at the BTU, we are celebrating the successful achievement of the programme’s objectives and the gender equality measures it has enabled. The ceremony will open at 10.30 am on 25 June 2026 in Großer Hörsaal with opening addresses by Manja Schüle, Minister for Science, and Gesinde Grande, President of the BTU.
