The BTU Buddy Programme, funded by the European Social Fund as part of the project Get Involved – Make Friends in Your New City, is entering a new round!

Three research organisations, five institutes, one site: on Thursday 1 October 2026, the ground-breaking ceremony for a new research campus took place at the Nordring in Cottbus.

The Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) made it into the top 40 per cent worldwide straight away. This result highlights how the BTU is making a name for itself internationally as a young, research-intensive university. For the latest ranking, published on 30 September 2026, 2,297 higher education institutions from 118 countries and territories were assessed.

In the Footsteps of a Modernist Architect: How a European Research Fellowship Links Cottbus with Berlin and Chicago

If a workstation breaks down in a factory hall, transport robots will in future automatically find a new route – just like a sat-nav does when there’s a diversion. To ensure no mistakes are made, a second system looks over the shoulders of the workers right at the workbench and warns them if a component is not being fitted correctly.

To mark the start of the new school year, BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg is offering pupils the chance to find out about degree programmes and study conditions at an early stage. Even if they are not yet in their final year, many young people will soon have to make decisions about their future.
