Science and research are key drivers of change in Lusatia. Federal Minister for Research Dorothee Bär saw this for herself today during her official inaugural visit to the state of Brandenburg.

This week, the BTU is hosting the 106th Civil Engineering Departmental Committee Conference (BauFaK). Until Sunday, around 140 students and Departmental Committee representatives from Germany, Austria and Switzerland will be meeting in Cottbus to discuss current issues in Civil Engineering, higher education policy and social matters.

On 29 April 2026, Faculty 4 for Human Sciences at BTU Cottbus–Senftenberg elected a new faculty leadership team. Prof. Dr. jur. habil. Jens M. Schubert was elected Dean. On 7 May 2026, the Senate of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) reappointed Prof. Dr Gesine Grande for a second term as President.
