The goal of the BMBF funded project 'Regional Climate Projections Ensemble for Germany' (ReKliEs-De) is to assess uncertainties of future climate change such as extreme precipitation.
Together with project partners, scientists at the Chair of Environmental Meteorology (Prof. Dr. Eberhard Schaller) of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, lead by of Dr. Klaus Keuler, are creating high-resolution climate projections for Germany. As part of the project, scientists are using the latest technology to simulate the European climate over a period of 150 years. The composition of the atmosphere is simulated day by day in different scenarios in order to examine future climate impacts based on project results, and to develop adaptive measures accordingly.
On the initiative of the federal states, the joint project is being strategically advised by a steering group consisting of representatives of the Hessian State Office for Environment and Geology (HLUG), the Ministry of Rural Development, Environment and Agriculture of the Federal State of Brandenburg, and the Federal Environment Agency (UBA). The project is carried out in cooperation with the German research institutions
