50th Alumni Anniversary at the Cottbus Campus

Congratulations to seminar group 4/72

An impressive 50 years ago now, Seminar Group 4/72 of the ‘Construction Technology’ study programme completed their studies at what was then the Cottbus University of Engineering. Since then, not only has the name of our predecessor institution changed, but student life as a whole has also undergone fundamental changes. Studies were once conducted in fixed class groups, naturally without digital facilities; halls of residence were characterised by shared rooms, and the campus itself had a very different appearance.

Emerging from the rich traditions of civil engineering, the BTU Cottbus–Senftenberg has developed impressively, now offering more than 70 study programmes. Half a century of change, progress and new perspectives lies behind our academic institution — and yet the dynamism of change remains its defining constant to this day.

To mark the seminar group’s 60th anniversary, there will certainly be plenty of new things to discover on campus and beyond.

It was with great pleasure that we welcomed our honorary alumni to the BTU. During a short campus tour and a celebratory event, the alumni anniversary certificates were presented — accompanied by graduation caps and a glass of sparkling wine.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Seminar Group 4/72 for their loyalty to our academic institution. For the future, we wish all alumni good health, happiness and many wonderful encounters — along with the hope of an equally warm reunion at the next anniversary.
