Obligation to report:
- Employee inventions must be reported to the employer immediately and in writing.
- Non-work-related inventions must also be disclosed to the employer so that the employer can verify whether they are genuinely ‘non-work-related’ (unless the invention is obviously usable elsewhere).
- Confidentiality: The inventor must keep the invention confidential until the rights have been clarified, so as not to jeopardise its novelty.
