BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg at the E-world energy & water in Essen The leading trade fair for the Energy Economics sector
E-world energy & water, which takes place in Essen from February 10 - 12, 2026, is the leading trade fair and meeting place for the European Energy Economics sector. As an information platform for the energy industry, E-world brings together international decision-makers in Essen every year. Almost a fifth of the exhibiting companies have their headquarters abroad. The majority of international exhibitors come from European Union countries.
For the second year in a row, BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg will be represented with a stand at the joint stand of the Berlin-Brandenburg capital region and will present the Energy Innovation Centre (EIZ). As a bridge between science and industry, the EIZ, with over 100 scientists from BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, works together with an interdisciplinary partner network to develop innovative solutions and technologies for the climate-neutral energy system of the future, focusing on excellent research, industry-oriented technology development and training and further education programmes for industry and science. The aim of the trade fair appearance is to raise the profile of the research centre both nationally and internationally, establish contacts with companies and position start-ups.
Visiting the trade fair creates ideal conditions for making new professional contacts, expanding networks and initiating promising collaborations for current research projects and future joint projects.
If you have become curious, then visit us in Essen at the exhibition centre in Hall 4 | Stand 4C109. The trade fair is open from February 10-11, 2026 from 9 am to 6 pm and on February 12, 2026 from 9 am to 5 pm. We look forward to seeing you.

BTU presents future technologies for recycling lithium-ion batteries at Interbattery in Seoul
InterBattery is the leading international trade fair for battery technologies, which takes place annually in Seoul and where the world's leading companies present their latest innovations in the fields of electromobility, energy storage systems, battery production, mechanical and plant engineering, and the recycling of lithium-ion batteries.
The Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg is participating in InterBattery for the second time and will be showcasing itself together with research institutions and companies at the joint stand of the Berlin-Brandenburg capital region.
The BTU is represented by the Department of Physical Chemistry, Prof. Dr. Jörg Acker. The focus is on special expertise in the fields of recycling and recovery of battery materials and raw materials from lithium-ion batteries, as well as material and process analysis. With the help of fundamental research approaches and the application of state-of-the-art chemical and material analysis methods, novel and economical processes and process steps for industrial use are being developed in order to obtain high-quality recyclates and return them to the economic cycle of battery materials.
A particular highlight is the presentation of a new research project launched by the BTU departments of Physical Chemistry, Spectrochemical Analysis, and Process and Plant Engineering, as well as the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM). In cooperation with companies and other research institutions, novel chemical, material analytical, and process engineering methods for recycling current and future battery technologies are being developed. This includes new approaches to the development of automated methods for industrial process analysis and the digital representation of recycling processes and process steps.
If you are interested, please visit us between March 11 and 13, 2026, in Seoul at the Coex Convention & Exhibition Center Gangnam District, Hall A, Booth A440.

BTU and Lausitz Science Park present innovation potential at Hannover Messe 2026
For the first time, the BTU project "Lausitz Science Park" will have its own stand at the joint stand of the Berlin-Brandenburg capital region. Start-ups and companies that are already associated with the future science and technology park will present their latest technologies and innovative services in the fields of decarbonisation and energy transition, transformation processes, AI and sensor technology - including sustainable energy systems, agile manufacturing methods, modern lightweight construction, industrial drones and AI solutions.
Energy will be at the centre of this year's joint stand - with a focus on innovative technologies, sustainable supply solutions and forward-looking partnerships along the entire industrial value chain. Special attention will be paid to Lusatia, one of the most dynamic regions undergoing structural change and the first Net Zero Valley in Europe. A new energy landscape with national appeal is emerging here: with real-world laboratories, hydrogen projects, industrial cooperation and innovation centres. The joint stand at HANNOVER MESSE aims to provide insights into specific projects, collaborations and investment opportunities in this region of the future.
In addition, the conference programme offers the opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing industry at an international level in times of high energy costs and global supply chain problems. The topics of competitiveness and sustainability will take centre stage. In addition to the lecture programme, showcases and exhibitions from all areas of the industry, there will be additional formats.
If you are curious, then visit us between 20 and 24 April 2026 in Hanover at the exhibition grounds, in hall 12 at stand E41.
