Review of trade fair participations
BTU with future technologies at Formnext 2024 from 19-22 November
Formnext 2024 has once again proven that personal encounters and discussions provide the best basis for solutions and the identification of additive manufacturing applications. Over 34,400 visitors met with more than 800 exhibitors in Frankfurt am Main. In addition to additive production systems, users also found technologies along the entire process chain. The Polymer-based Lightweight Construction and Joining and Welding Technology chairs were able to gather numerous impressions of current developments from industry and research at Formnext 2024 as part of the SpreeTec neXt project, among others. By presenting their own work on additive manufacturing with plastics and metals at the joint stand of the Berlin-Brandenburg capital region, interesting discussions were held and new project ideas were generated. We would like to thank all participants, stand visitors and organisers and look forward to Formnext 2025!

BTU with future technologies from current BTU research at InnoTrans from 24-27 September 2024
The BTU was also present at the world's largest trade fair for Transport Technology with 2940 exhibitors from 59 countries and a record number of 170,000 visitors from 133 countries.
BTU was present at this year's InnoTrans in Berlin with information on the research area "New manufacturing technologies for components and systems in decentralised energy technology - Spree Tec neXt". Spree Tec neXt" with the participation of the chairs Polymer-based lightweight construction and Joining and Welding Technology were represented. At the same time, the TurboFuelCell-Mobil project from the Department of Internal Combustion Engines and Aircraft Propulsion was presented - a highly efficient, sustainable power generator whose use offers a solution to the challenge of the energy transition.
The trade fair stand was very appealing thanks to its open design concept. The BTU trade fair stand was visited by guided career tours via the InnoTrans Campus recruiting programme, as the BTU presented itself at the Career Point Campus. Students were able to find out about the BTU's programmes and the research on display in the field of new manufacturing technologies. The State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Energy of the State of Brandenburg, Hendrik Fischer, was also given an overview of the current research landscape at BTU in the area of the exhibited future topics. Numerous industry contacts were made and cultivated and new project ideas were generated, including through exchanges with neighbouring stands. Some BTU alumni who work in large transport technology companies specifically sought out BTU as their alma mater at the stand.
The next InnoTrans will certainly take place again with BTU participation from 22-25 September 2026 in Berlin.

BTU with stands at the ILA Berlin from 05 - 09 June 2024
The ILA Berlin closes with an increase in visitor numbers and the response was overwhelming. Both participants and exhibitors showed a particularly high level of interest this year. Under the motto "Pioneering Aerospace", international industry, politics, the armed forces and science came together to find out about the future of aerospace.
The BTU was represented at this year's ILA Berlin with 2 stands and presented itself to the specialised public on 2 stages of the Federal Association of the German Aerospace Industry. On the one hand, the research being carried out at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg in the field of aviation was shown, and on the other hand, CHESCO GmbH presented its range of services in the field of agile manufacturing and digital technologies. The two stands were visited by various company delegations and there was plenty of opportunity for dialogue and networking with companies as well as interested student groups. The new BTU study programme "Hybrid Electric Propulsion Technology" was also presented at the ILA Talent Hub.
The next ILA Berlin is planned for 10-14 June 2026.

BTU presented itself at aero from 19 to 22 April 2023 together with the chesco research centre

In 2023, BTU and the chesco research centre once again exhibited at AERO Friedrichshafen, the leading trade fair for general aviation in Europe, from 19 - 22 April 2023 at the joint stand of the Berlin-Brandenburg capital region in Hall A5, Stand 301. Innovative concepts for sustainable aviation took centre stage at the trade fair.
BTU was nominated for the first time for the Sustainable Aviation Trail, which is dedicated to sustainability in aviation: Alternative fuels such as bio-fuel and PtL (power-to-liquid), lightweight construction, hybrid drives and new and more efficient manufacturing technologies were thematised. Interested visitors were introduced to the topics interactively with the aircraft exhibit. The employees at the stand can look back on a successful trade fair appearance with good discussions and numerous contacts.
travelcam.tv takes you along to AERO 23 and shows various exhibitors and their innovations (insights from the joint stand of the capital region from minute 4:13)
