Quality assurance and development in the field of academic affairs at BTU is based on the statutes for the evaluation of academic affairs within the framework of university-wide quality management (QM), which were amended in 2020.

Elements of the evaluation-oriented QM system (eQMS) include the scientifically sound understanding of evaluation and evaluative formats set out in the above statutes; furthermore the reviewing the standards of study and examination regulations, continuing education in university teaching for lecturers, and the teaching award presented on Teaching Day. The results obtained in evaluations, in conjunction with the results of official statistics, are used by our faculties to ensure and continuously improve teaching quality. They also provide valuable information for accreditation, module administration, and the awarding of teaching prizes.

Based on BbgHG and EvaS, the following formats and procedures are specifically supported:

Central quantitative evaluation instruments

    Course evaluation
    Module evaluation
    Graduate survey

Additional quantitative evaluation instruments

    Applicant-dropout survey
    Freshman survey

Alternative qualitative evaluation tools

    Learning-success evaluation
    Utilization-focused evaluation
    Teaching analysis polls
    Focus group discussions
