Research profile and topics

The Chair's research seeks to generate knowledge and understanding of economic dependencies and interrelationships. Our staff members cover a broad spectrum of topics and address different target groups. On the one hand, our research is aimed at the academic community, in particular through scientific publications in internationally recognised journals. However, the Chair also pursues the goal of having an impact on wider society. Therefore, we engage in transfer-oriented research projects intended to assist stakeholders in overcoming current economic challenges. This includes economic policy makers and public administrations, but also associations and other civil society organisations. We explicitly welcome methodological diversity in the creation and application of knowledge in our research.

The thematic focus areas of the Chair's research can be categorised into three main areas: (i) monetary policy and financial markets with a particular focus on financial and currency crises, (ii) shadow economy and (iii) regional structural change & innovation policy.

On the following pages you will find more detailed information on the Chair's publications and research projects as well as an overview of completed and ongoing doctoral studies and post-doctoral projects (since 2013).
