Prof. Wolfram Berger

After studying Economics in Oldenburg and Münster, Professor Berger earned his doctorate and habilitation at the FernUniversität in Hagen. He subsequently worked in the Economic Policy Division of the Federal Ministry for Economics and Technology before spending several years in France as Professor of Economics and Head of Department (Accounting, Economics, Finance, and Quantitative Methods) at the Catholic University of Lille.
Since 2010, he has held the Chair of Macroeconomics at BTU Cottbus–Senftenberg. During the winter semester of 2012/2013 and the summer semester of 2013, he served as Professor of Economics and Head of Department (Accounting, Finance, Economics) at Oxford Brookes University in the UK. From 2020 to 2023, he was based in Nancy, France, as Directeur académique et recherche (equivalent to Vice President for Research and Academic Development) at ICN Business School.
At BTU Cottbus–Senftenberg, Professor Berger has held several senior roles. From 2016 to 2020, he served as Pro-Dean, was Chairman of the Examination Board for the university’s Bachelor's and Master’s programmes in Business Administration and Chair of the Institute of Business & Economics.
He has also held visiting positions at renowned institutions, including EM Lyon Business School, the Graduate School of Business at the University of Stellenbosch, and the University of Texas at San Antonio, and spent a semester as a visiting scholar at the University of Cambridge.
He currently serves as Vice-President for Internationalisation at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.
