Invitation to the Second HWR International Doctoral Summer School

From September 7 to 11, 2026, the Berlin School of Economics and Law (HWR Berlin) will once again host an international summer school for doctoral researchers. Applications are open until May 29, 2026. The summer school offers the opportunity to learn about career paths for scientists at universities of applied sciences.

The Berlin School of Economics and Law (HWR Berlin) is pleased to invite doctoral candidates to its second International Doctoral Summer School. Following the guiding principle “Application-oriented and practice-related research: Mind the Gap - Find the Gap - Bridge the Gap,” the program focuses on methodological and science communication topics within practice-oriented research.

PhD students from various international universities are invited to reflect on and discuss key questions, including:

  • Approaches and challenges characterizing the relationship between academia and practical application.
  • Methods particularly useful for practice-based research and their skillful implementation.
  • Strategies for “translating” scientific findings into practice and society, and vice versa.
  • Advancing personal public speaking and presentation styles.

The event will take place at the HWR Campus Schöneberg in Berlin. Participation is free of charge. The application deadline is May 29, 2026.
