Lausitz Science Park in focus: Exchange with European science parks

In mid-September 2025, the Lausitz Science Park was the focus of the peer review "Driving regional innovation through Science Parks", a format of the Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platform. The aim was to develop concrete recommendations for the further development of the Lausitz Science Park together with international experts.

The event was organised by EGC Entwicklungsgesellschaft Cottbus mbH and brought together representatives from France, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Germany. The key players in the Lausitz Science Park - the City of Cottbus, EGC and Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg - sat around a table with experienced colleagues from European science parks to exchange ideas and develop concrete solutions.

The core message: Now is the time to get started with everything that can already be realised today. The topics discussed included funding, regional acceptance and thematic profiling. The international peers gave us very specific recommendations for the next steps and at the same time emphasised our strengths - objectively, openly and with insights from their own experience, including the mistakes they have made.

Valuable impulses

The good cooperation between the stakeholders, the financing of the development, the proximity to the university, the connection to the city and the high level of acceptance in the region were emphasised particularly positively.

These valuable impulses give us a tailwind to strategically develop the Lausitz Science Park further and establish it as an innovation driver for the Lusatia region. Many thanks to EGC and the Interreg Europe team for the organisation and to all participants for the constructive exchange!
