A musical start to Advent with BTU students

Public concerts by students of instrumental and vocal pedagogy at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) will continue to enrich cultural life in Cottbus and the region at the end of 2022.

Music lovers are invited on Tuesday, November 29, as well as on December 6 and 13 at 7 pm in the concert hall on the Cottbus-Sachsendorf campus in Lipezker Straße 47. Admission is free in each case.

Theconcert of the piano classes of Veronika Glemser and Prof. Wolfgang Glemser on November 29 is dedicated to the 150th birthday of the composer and pianist Alexander Scriabin (1872 - 1915). Between the individual works, Prof. Glemser will provide musicological background information and explanations of compositional features. OnDecember 6, a concert by students of instrumental and vocal pedagogy will feature works from various eras. This free recital evening will feature instruments such as piano, guitar, accordion and violin.

Finally, thetraditional Christmas concert of the voice classes of Prof. Simone Schröder and Eleonora Schröder is on the program of events on December 13. The students will perform songs and arias from several centuries.

In addition, on November 29 and December 13, starting at 8 p.m., there will be jazz sessions at Cottbus' Club Bebel, Nordstraße 4, featuring students from the Popular Music program. Regular concert activities will continue in the new year, beginning January 10.

Background The artistic-pedagogical study program Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree in Instrumental or Vocal Pedagogy in eight semesters. Classical and popular music majors are offered. Prerequisite for admission to the study program is the passing of an aptitude test. Professional fields of activity after graduation include teaching an instrument, singing and/or elementary music pedagogy at public or private music schools as well as self-employment as a music teacher.
