"Here and on the move" - photography and painting in the university library

An exhibition with works by university staff members Heike Postelt and Doreen Schwarz will open on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 3 p.m. in the media library at the Campus Senftenberg of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU). All interested parties are invited to attend free of charge.

In addition to photographs, watercolors, chalk drawings and acrylic paintings will be on display. The presentation marks the start of a series of exhibitions with works by creative BTU employees and students. The opening is linked to the "Open Senftenberg" day on Saturday, May 25, during which the works will also be presented from 10 am to 6 pm. The exhibition will then be accessible in the university library during its opening hours until the end of September 2024.

Lusatian Heike Postelt (52) is married and the mother of two daughters. She completed her degree in Social Work at the former Lausitz University of Applied Sciences. With a brief interruption, she has been an employee of the university since 2008 and has worked as a student advisor for many years. In addition to her family, hiking, painting and photography are her passions. In the exhibition, she shows snapshots and paintings from her travels around the world.

Doreen Schwarz (44) is also from Lusatia - but a returnee, having lived in Hamburg, Leipzig and Denver/Colorado (USA). She is a graduate of the former Lausitz University of Applied Sciences. Her business studies abroad took her to Finland and Great Britain. She has now been the coordinator for the co-op programme at BTU for nine years. She enjoys traveling the world and often presents snapshots from her travels and, in particular, from nature.

The 17-year-old singer Anna Arakelyan, who is completing her artistic training at the Landesmusikgymnasium Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden, will provide the musical framework for the vernissage. With her band DIVA, she won the "Jugend musiziert" competition of the state of Brandenburg last year and helped organize the BTU's tenth anniversary celebration.

Mathias Mende, owner of the Mende Group in Schönewalde, is making an important contribution to the success of this exhibition and future presentations by providing ten high-quality picture frames with passe-partouts free of charge.
