"Open Senftenberg" with open doors at the BTU

Together with around 90 other institutions, companies and associations, the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) is organizing the "Open Senftenberg" day on Saturday, May 25, 2024. Study information, open labs, experiments, a poetry slam, sporting activities and much more will characterize the program on the BTU campus from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In addition to offers with fixed times, for example the experimental lecture "Chemistry of Fire" at 10 a.m., events of the Children's and Pupils' University from 11:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. respectively, alumni campus tours at 11:15 a.m. and 2 p.m., the poetry slam from 3 p.m. and information on dealing with illness from 4 p.m., there are numerous half-day or full-day program items to choose from.

Comprehensive information about studying at BTU as well as insights into the midwifery science study program and the learning workshop of the new primary school teaching degree program. It will also be possible to enter virtual worlds and experience study programmes using VR glasses. The laboratories of the Institute of Biotechnology are open to all, and amazing experiments can be experienced under the heading "Fascination of Chemistry". The high-voltage laboratory is open for exciting demonstrations.
The school laboratory of the German Aerospace Center will be presenting a virtual tour of the International Space Station (ISS). Children can experience a rocket launch. A book market for enthusiasts and a craft street are also on the program. In addition, an exhibition of photography and paintings by creative university employees, which opened the day before, can be viewed in the university library. Visitors will have the opportunity to pedal for a smoothie, test their own fitness and that of their children and take part in sports games. Culinary delights will be provided by the Studentenwerk canteen and students.

Guest presentations on the BTU Campus
The Konrad Zuse Media Center will also be hosting the Senftenberg Tourist Information Office, the municipal housing association, Stadtwerke Senftenberg and the police with their offers. The laboratories of GA Generic Assays GmbH can be visited in the immediately adjacent Innovation Center.

The diverse BTU program is an important part of the training tour as part of the first major event "Open Senftenberg". Among other things, the Campus Senftenberg can be reached by a free shuttle service. From 6 p.m. onwards, participants from the individual venues will meet at Senftenberg Market Square, where the event was opened in the morning. The organizer of the entire event is the town of Senftenberg.
