Prof. Dr. Albert Kirchengast

Prof. Kirchengast studied architecture at TU Graz. He became an assistant and senior assistant at ETH Zurich at the Institute gta (Prof. Dr. Ákos Moravánszky) and in the "Theory Lab" of the Institute of Landscape Architecture (Prof. Christophe Girot). He completed his doctoral studies on the aesthetic reference to nature in Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's residential buildings at the ETH Zurich. He became a founder and Editor-in-Chief of the international book series “Landscript” with Christophe Girot. He also held the title of Guest Fellow at the IWM in Vienna, CCA in Montreal and at Harvard University GSD. He received the position of Senior Scientist at the Art History Institute of Florence, Max Planck Institute (Prof. Dr. Alessandro Nova). He has held teaching positions at various European universities, including Visiting Professor for Design Theory and Lecturer for Building in Existing Contexts at TU Vienna and Lecturer for Natural Ethics at MScLA of ETH Zurich. He is currently appointed to the Junior Professorship for Architectural Theory at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg in spring of 2023.
