Thermogravimetric Reactor for Heterogeneous-Catalytic Reactions

In principle, the kinetics of reaction and deactivation of heterogeneous catalytic reactions can be investigated using thermogravimetric methods. But, often these kinetics cannot be used in the design of chemical reactors due to unknown fluid conditions at the catalyst surface. A thermogravimetric reactor especially suited for the application in commercially available thermobalances was developed which allows adjustable and reproducible flow condtions. This has been experimentally verified by non-reactive mass transport measurements. Now, the reactor is used for various applications including kinetic investigations.
