"Cultural education in rural areas" - Lusatia region

Runtime

12/2019 until 12/2023

In the joint project "FAkuBi", the cultural landscapes and actor constellations of cultural education with a focus on arrangements for children and adolescents in a northern, an eastern and a central German region are comparatively investigated. The specific feature of the research region Lusatia in Brandenburg is the natural and cultural spatial structural change. For example, the region is characterized by lignite mining as well as by the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Spreewald". In addition, the customs and traditions of the recognized minority of the Sorbs/Wends form another special feature of the region.

The study uses the methods of standardized questioning, network analyses and ethnography. In addition, a special interest is directed to the questions:

  • Which actors play in the cultural sector with which offers?
  • What forms of networking and cooperation exist?
  • How does the practice of cultural education specifically for children and young people show up empirically?

Furthermore, another elementary question and activating impulse within the research project is how cultural education networking can succeed in rural regions and what is needed for it.
