The Chair of Cognitive Material Analytics, headed by Prof. Constanze Tschöpe, was founded in September 2024. We teach and research artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) methods for the development of industry-capable cognitive testing systems, the handling of small and unbalanced amounts of data as well as in the fields of acoustic pattern recognition and AI-based analysis of technical data, bio- and speech data.
The department cooperates closely with the Fraunhofer project group KogMatD at Fraunhofer IKTS. The project group was founded on January 1, 2019 and is based at the Brandenburg University of Technology in Cottbus. Following the positive interim evaluation in 2021, the group was successfully evaluated in 2023 and continued beyond the five-year term.
Together with numerous companies in the region, other BTU departments, national and international universities and research institutions as well as clinics, we conceive and design projects for basic research and application-oriented projects. The applications range from the quality assessment of manufactured components, predictive maintenance of industrial plants and wear components to the processing of spoken and written language and the analysis of biological and medical data.
