Research paper presented at the ARNA Conference 2026 in Brazil

Jonas Betz attended the annual international conference of the Action Research Network of the Americas in Sobral, Brazil. There, he presented a research paper on dealing constructively with resistance in organisational change processes.

From 16 to 20 June 2026, Jonas Betz attended the ARNA 2026 Hybrid Annual Conference in Sobral, Brazil. Under the theme “Dissolving Barriers: Weaving Knowledge in the Territories of the Americas … and Beyond”, the conference brought together researchers and practitioners from the fields of action research and participatory research.

As part of the conference, Jonas Betz presented the paper “Co-Constructing Organisational Change: An Action Research Framework for Productive Resistance”. The paper develops an action research-based framework through which resistance to organisational change is understood not solely as an obstacle, but as a source of local and practice-based knowledge. This knowledge can be used to further develop change initiatives in collaboration with the stakeholders involved.

Another highlight of the conference programme was the keynote address by Dr Michel Thiollent. The Franco-Brazilian sociologist is one of the leading scholars in the field of action research and participatory research methods. In his keynote address, he explored the connection between scientific research, participatory practice and social change.

Participation in the conference and the presentation of the research paper were made possible by a grant from the Graduate Research School at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.
