A core competence in the field of biotechnology at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg is the establishment and optimization of special cell culture techniques in 2D (2-dimensional) and 3D (3-dimensional). These cell and tissue systems are developed for application in therapy, diagnostics and pharmacology. The aim is to enable the cells to generate tissue structures purely on their own. The manufacturing process of the scaffold-free 3D cell aggregates is therefore based on the formation of cartilage tissue during embryonic development. Here, the aggregation process of cells under formation of cell-cell contacts is the initialization of tissue differentiation.
