Keynote Presentation at the 24th Brazilian Conference on Chemical Engineering (COBEQ).
The 24th Brazilian Conference on Chemical Engineering (COBEQ) was held in Salvador (Bahia, Brazil) from October 1 to 5, 2023. The central theme of the conference was the role of chemical engineering in the transition to a sustainable future through energy transition, defossilization and circular economy. Prof. Roh Pin Lee contributed a keynote presentation on "Transition of carbon-intensive industries towards decarbonization and circularity: opportunities and challenges of converting waste into products through chemical recycling," focusing in particular on lessons learned from previous developments in chemical recycling and the potential for defossilization and circular economy through waste products in Brazil. Together with Prof. Harvey Arellano-Garcia (Chair of Process and Plant Engineering, BTU Cottbus), Prof. Karen Pontes (former DAAD scholarship holder in Germany) and others, she discussed the potential for chemical recycling research in Germany with Brazilian chemical engineers in an interactive panel discussion organized by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Research Foundation (DFG).
