At the heart of the transformation - a look back at Decarbon Days 2025

From 26 to 28 June 2025, the future Lausitz Science Park became a stage for sustainable technologies, entrepreneurial spirit and international cooperation.

Day 1 - EU Summit:

The political kick-off was hosted by Dr Christian Ehler, who played a key role in shaping the concept of Net Zero Valleys at EU level. During the EU Summit, representatives of the EU Commission, the German government and regional initiatives discussed the future of a climate-neutral industrial policy. The fact that this dialogue took place in the middle of the emerging Lausitz Science Park is a strong signal for the location and its European relevance.

Day 2 - Tech Festival:

Numerous exhibitors, panels and pitches showed how diverse the climate and energy transition is already being driven forward in Lusatia. Many of our partner institutions such as the Center for Hybrid Electric Systems Cottbus (chesco), DLR Institute of Electrified Aircraft Propulsion, DLR Institute of Low Carbon Industrial Processes, Energy Innovation Centre Cottbus (EIZ) and others were also represented. We were particularly pleased with the great interest in the development of the Lausitz Science Park and what is being created here.

An emotional highlight was the presentation of the first Female Energy Award, which highlighted outstanding women from the energy and innovation sector - a strong sign of diversity in the transformation. Congratulations to the winner Anna Sauter-Getschmann.

Day 3 - Talent Day & Climathon:

Young talents from BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and University of Zielona Góra presented their ideas on decarbonisation - creative, technology-driven and practical. A special highlight: the student prize went to a team from BTU, which impressed with an AI-based solution for autonomous energy optimisation.

As a Vision Partner, we also opened up the Lausitz Science Park site as an experience space: With the first "Lost Places" bike tours through the Lausitz Science Park and a digital scavenger hunt in cooperation with TripLeap, we made it possible to experience the past and the future at the same time. Thanks to everyone who took part with curiosity, openness and a spirit of discovery!

A big thank you to everyone involved and the entire organisation team for this premiere!

For all those who didn't have the opportunity to explore our site on two wheels during the Decarbon Days: The "Lost Places" bike tour through the Lausitz Science Park will be offered again as part of the BTU Summer Festival on 4 July 2025.
