Growing importance of global partnerships in science and technology
The Lakeside Science & Technology Park in Klagenfurt (Austria) celebrated its 20th anniversary last week. As an international partner, the Lausitz Science Park was represented by a delegation. André Röhrig, LSP employee in the area of internationalisation and networking, as well as teaching and research fellow Dr Hamid Zargariasl and Alireza Siyavashi from the BTU Chair of Computer Science took part in a varied programme on site, which was all about innovation, technological excellence and international cooperation.
Strengthening regional innovation systems
A central theme of the anniversary event was the innovative capacity of peripheral regions. Prof. Dr Stefan Zundel from BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg led a workshop on this topic, in which the so-called "Regional Innovation Paradox" was discussed. The participants developed strategies to strengthen regional innovation systems - for example through targeted cooperation, specialisation and closer networking structures. Aspects that are also of particular importance for the development of the Lausitz Science Park. In terms of technology, the event offered exciting insights, in particular in the areas of 5G and Digital Twin.
Dr Hamid Zargariasl emphasises: "I was particularly impressed by the scientific activities and technological capabilities of the park, especially in the domains of 5G and Digital Twin technologies. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to participate in a specialised technical meeting with researchers from the 5G department, which was highly informative and relevant to my ongoing work."
The exchange on a professional level was complemented by an atmospheric supporting programme - including networking at Lake Wörthersee.
International strategy
In addition to the Lausitz Science Park and the host Lakeside Park, international innovation locations such as the NOI Techpark from South Tyrol and the Dhahran Techno Valley Holding Co. (DTVC) from Saudi Arabia also took part in the event. A strong signal for the growing importance of global partnerships in science and technology.
"The collaboration with Lakeside Park is an important building block in the international strategy of the Lausitz Science Park. We would like to thank you for the invitation, the inspiring discussions and the intensive dialogue. The anniversary was not only a look back at 20 years of success, but also a source of inspiration for joint future projects," says André Röhrig.
