Visit to Berlin-Adlershof: Important impetus for the Lausitz Science Park
The team from the Lausitz Science Park at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) organised an information trip to the Berlin-Adlershof Technology Park for the Cottbus City Council. The aim of the visit was to discuss open questions relating to the development and operation of a successful science and technology park and to gain practical insights from an established innovation centre.
Adlershof as a role model for Lusatia
The Adlershof Technology Park is recognised throughout Germany as one of the most successful examples of long-term location development in the fields of science, research and technology. For the Lausitz Science Park, Adlershof is therefore an important reference point on the way to establishing an efficient science centre in Lusatia.
Special thanks go to WISTA Management GmbH, which accompanied the visit with a comprehensive tour, open discussions and a transparent exchange of experiences. The willingness to share insights from over 30 years of Location Development provided the participants with valuable orientation for the next steps in Cottbus.
Experience, knowledge transfer and personal insights
The exchange with Prof. Dr Norbert Langhoff, engineer and Adlershof pioneer since the 1960s, and with technology park pioneer Dr Helge Neumann, biophysicist and active at WISTA since the creation of the Adlershof science location, was particularly enriching. Their many years of experience, their practical advice and their great openness to further support impressively illustrated the importance of knowledge transfer, continuity and networking for the successful development of new innovation locations.
Equally heartfelt thanks go to Roland Sillmann, Manager of WISTA Management GmbH, and Sylvia Nitschke, Head of Corporate Communications. The excellent organisation on site, the open support during the visit and the exchange on an equal footing contributed significantly to the success of the fact-finding trip.
Broad political and economic consensus
Representatives of the Green/SUB, CDU and SPD parliamentary groups as well as the Cottbus Chamber of Industry and Commerce took part in the trip. The cross-party dialogue and the involvement of economic players underline the broad consensus to jointly advance the Lausitz Science Park as a central future project for Cottbus and the region.
Next steps for a strong science location
The visit to Berlin-Adlershof has made it clear that it is now crucial to take the next steps consistently and further develop the necessary framework conditions. The aim is to create a strong, innovative and talent-attracting centre of science and innovation in Lusatia - based on cooperation, long-term prospects and shared responsibility.
