Theranostics in Lusatia: Prospects, partnerships and concrete next steps

Theranostics is emerging as a key area of the future in cancer medicine, and the Lusatia region is actively positioning itself within this field. At the network’s kick-off event, partners from the worlds of science, healthcare and industry were brought together to explore shared opportunities and set out concrete next steps.

Theranostics is one of the most dynamic fields in modern cancer diagnosis and treatment. Its progress depends on how effectively stakeholders from the worlds of science, healthcare and industry are networked with one another, and how quickly shared potential can be translated into practical application.

The Theranosticum Lausitz is establishing a ‘Translational Centre for Theranostic Innovations’ designed to fulfil precisely this role. Together with the founding partners – the Medical University of Lausitz – Carl Thiem, the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg and the Lausitz Science Park – the foundations are being laid for close collaboration and accelerated innovation.

The network kick-off as a catalyst for collaboration and Location Development

The network kick-off, initiated and led by Matthias Untisz, clearly underscored this ambition and provided important impetus. From the perspective of the Lausitz Science Park, the focus was on future Location Development. Prof. Dr Michael Hübner provided insights into the creation of the Lausitz Science Park at BTU C-S and explained how a shared understanding of development is taking shape. This was complemented by Doreen Mohaupt, Vice Mayor of the City of Cottbus/Chóśebuz, who highlighted key major projects and provided insights into the city’s ongoing transformation process.

A particular highlight was the joint visit to the core area of the Lausitz Science Park. On site, participants were able to experience the potential first-hand: space for innovative companies, facilities for research and knowledge transfer, as well as concrete ideas for the future development of the site. The direct exchange made the development prospects tangible and sparked further ideas for cooperation.

The kick-off was complemented by valuable contributions from industry and application partners, including Nicolas Loniewski (Protherium), Patrick Heilfort (MUL-CT), Dr Ajay Mohan (AIQ Solutions) and Dr Muhammet Tanc (Nuclide Therapeutics).
