Lecture on the structural change of Lusatia

Public online lecture series "Open BTU" on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, 5:30 p.m., with Dr. Klaus Freytag - Lusatia Representative of the Minister President at the State Chancellery of the State of Brandenburg

All interested parties are cordially invited to this free event. Access to the online lecture hall with the lecture by Dr. Klaus Freytag - Lusatia - a region in "structural change " - can be found at www.b-tu.de/weiterbildung/offene-hochschule/open-btu on the Open BTU website. Participation is possible without pre-registration.

As a result of climate policy, Lusatia faces the task of transforming its industrial backbone. This is only feasible with financial and structural policy support from the federal and state governments. Innovations must be launched, expansions of existing companies, start-ups and new settlements must be stimulated. Attractiveness for companies, start-ups and skilled workers as well as new products and services are key elements. An image change must be accomplished.

Date: Wednesday, April 6, 2022, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Location: The event will take place online. Access details for the online lecture room are published on the Open BTU website.

Dr. Klaus Freytag studied mining at RWTH Aachen University and completed his doctorate based on this. After working on technical projects for the United Nations in Pakistan and India, he became head of department at the Lignite Mining Office in Cologne. He then began working for the State of Brandenburg, initially as a department head at the Upper Mining Authority. From 2001, Dr. Freytag was permanent deputy to the President of the Brandenburg State Mining Office (simultaneously the State Mining Office for the State of Berlin). On July 1, 2004, he was appointed president of the new Brandenburg State Office for Mining, Geology and Raw Materials. In December 2015, he moved to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy, where he served as head of department for energy and raw materials. Since June 12, 2018, Dr. Klaus Freytag has been responsible for Lusatia in his current role as the Minister President's Representative.
