Science and practice together for structural change in Lusatia

The performance and innovation capabilities of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) and its partner companies and institutions will be the focus of the 7th BTU Transfer Day on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, from noon to 5 p.m. at the university's central campus in Cottbus.

This year's Transfer Day is entitled "Structural change in Lusatia - ideas, concepts, projects, financing".

Prof. Dr. Michael Hübner, BTU's full-time Vice President for Research and Transfer, emphasizes: "The Transfer Day is highly relevant because it links regional industry with scientists at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, for example, in order to work together on application-oriented research topics. The non-university research institutions and the federal institutes newly established in Cottbus also present themselves here to discuss opportunities for scientific transfer with the BTU."

The BTU vice president welcomes to the 7th Transfer Day on June 14 at 1 p.m. on the stage in the foyer of the Central Lecture Hall Building. To kick off the multi-faceted program, Prof. Hübner will provide information about the Lusatia Science Park - one of the outstanding structural development projects led by BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. In short presentations, the participants get to know the structural change projects and initiatives of the BTU, the new non-university institutions established in Lusatia, project groups as well as federal institutes. The focal points are, analogous to the BTU's research profile: energy transition and decarbonization, health and life science, global change and transformation processes as well as artificial intelligence and sensor technology.

At the Structural Change Service Point, the Cottbus Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) and the Cottbus Chamber of Skilled Crafts(HWK) will present support services and funding for Lusatian companies. More than 20 information booths offer space for networking, communication and professional exchange. Here, among others, the metal as well as plastics and chemistry clusters will present their networking activities with a focus on innovations, cooperation and skilled workers.

One of the highlights of the event will be the conclusion of the innofab_Ideas competition, which is about the best scientific business ideas with regional relevance from the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg and the Technical University of Wildau. A jury and the audience will decide on the winners, who will then receive awards.

Even before the official start of the 7th BTU Transfer Day, interested parties from companies and institutions will have the opportunity, starting at 10 a.m., to convince themselves of the excellent possibilities of the young and modern university during one of four guided laboratory visits.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the largest recruiting fair in the state of Brandenburg for academic professionals will take place in the immediate vicinity of the Transfer Day. More than 70 exhibiting companies and institutions are expected at the campus-X-change.

For participation in the 7th BTU Transfer Day, registrations are requested by June 10. Participation in the campus-X-change is possible without pre-registration and admission is free.

The program of the transfer day and further information are published here.

The event is supported by the Brandenburg Economic Development Corporation (WFBB), the Cottbus Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the Cottbus Chamber of Trade and Commerce.
