Scientific management of the ZWW appointed
In the Senate meeting of 24.11.2022, Prof. Dr. Silke Michalk reported after her four-year term as scientific director of the ZWW on the status of the fulfilment of tasks according to the establishment resolution of the ZWW.
Prof. Michalk especially emphasized the strengthened research and development part. Current research aspects include teaching and learning with new media or the conditions for successful knowledge transfer from the university to practice and vice versa. Within the framework of externally funded projects, the ZWW is concerned with the further development of scientific continuing education, in particular with the possibilities of opening up the university to new target groups, the architecture of qualification programs, personnel development and competence management. Currently these are measures
- for the qualification of specialists in the fields of artificial intelligence and battery cell production,
- qualification of international academics(IQB),
- training teachers in the use of digital learning formats (media education), and
- the development of an AI-supported continuing education platform and its design with experiential learning worlds(EXPAND+ER WB³).
The results and experience gained from the R&D activities benefit the business unit's own development of offerings. For example, the structural framework and quality management could be adapted with the framework regulations in the area of academic continuing education that came into force in 2022. Three additional certificate studies (Diploma of Advanced Studies, DAS) have been created.
Following the Senate's reporting and discharge of the academic management, the President of the BTU stated that the ZWW is very well positioned and has achieved a remarkable performance. The Senate proposes to the President the appointment of Prof. Dr. phil. Silke Michalk from January 1, 2023 for a limited period of four years, thus also confirming the vote of the Scientific Advisory Board of the ZWW.
Since January 01, 2019, Prof. Dr. phil. Silke Michalk has led the research area of the ZWW extremely successfully and complements the business area with its fields of action and tasks. She is available for another four years.
