First Summerschool on Nursing Science at the BTU

A total of 66 students and 18 lecturers from Germany and Austria will discuss the use of academic nursing students in nursing practice from May 10 to 12, 2023, on the Senftenberg campus of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU).

Opportunities and possibilities as well as challenges of academization in the professional field of nursing science are discussed and reflected upon. The aim is to advance the professional development of nursing science and to develop practical solutions for shaping the various fields of work and tasks. The future positioning within the skill-grade mix - the recording, presentation and evaluation of the qualifications of employees for the efficient and competence-oriented deployment of personnel - forms a core element of this.

For this purpose, numerous lectures and workshop topics will be offered in order to take a variety of perspectives, to get to know other perspectives and to enter into a professional exchange and discourse with each other in the German-Austrian exchange. The focus throughout is on the professional management of future tasks for all those working in nursing.

Thefirst Summer School on Nursing Science at the BTU is organized by the Department of Nursing Science and Clinical Nursing of the BTU in cooperation with partners from the FH Gesundheitsberufe Oberösterreich (FHGOÖ) in Linz. The Suimmerschool takes place under the direction of substitute professor Dr. Bettina Glunde with the team of the Department of Teaching and Learning in Professional Practice headed by Jeanette Jänchen. Martina Buchner, MScN is leading the Austrian delegation.
The cooperation between the two universities is based on an initiative of the academic staff member Florian Schimböck from the Institute of Health at BTU and Wolfgang Kuttner from FHGOÖ GmbH. As part of the curricular further development of the FHGOÖ's health and nursing degree program, the idea of a joint summer school was developed and realized for the first time in June 2022 at their study location in Vöcklabruck. The summer and winter school format offers the opportunity to get to know other universities throughout Europe and to select trips there according to specific topics. Participants can get actively involved themselves or attend further training courses in order to scientifically illuminate and reflect on their everyday work and the diverse areas of activity.
