Successful Study Info Day
On 9 January 2025, the university opened its lecture theatre and laboratory doors to high school graduates from Saxony, who took advantage of this school-free day to visit BTU, as well as to prospective students from Brandenburg and other federal states.
More than 100 young people from Saxony, Berlin and Brandenburg in particular came to the Konrad Zuse Media Centre right at the start of the Study Info Day, some accompanied by their parents. They listened to the introductory presentation by head of department Christiane Land with basic information about the BTU and its locations, the study programmes, internships and studying abroad, about application, admission, financing studies and much more.
Over the course of the day, they and other interested parties gained more in-depth information at the student guidance and counselling stands, the co-op programme, the teacher training course for primary school teachers, university sports and at a poster exhibition by the Institute of Health.
Detailed presentations of degree programmes and exciting lectures on scientific topics could also be experienced online, for example on Biotechnology. Laboratory tours, a flying visit to the BTU sports hall and a tour of the university library rounded off the successful programme of the Study Info Day.
Prospective students, such as Frieda Hermann from Hoyerswerda, were particularly interested in the teaching degree programme. However, health-related, environmental, natural sciences, engineering, economics and social sciences study programmes as well as STEM and construction courses were also in demand among visitors to the Study Info Day. In addition to the study options at the Campus Senftenberg, they also found out about the programmes on offer at the Cottbus main campus and the Cottbus-Sachsendorf campus.
For example, Anton Worbs, who came to BTU from near Zittau, was interested in Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering in particular, while Wanda Schweitzer from near Kamenz was interested in Therapy Sciences, Medical Technology and Architecture.
The Study Info Day in Senftenberg was aimed in particular at anyone who wanted to find out about the possibility of a Bachelor's degree programme in the long term, which usually starts in the winter semester 2025/26. The Study Info Day at BTU's Cottbus main campus is planned for 8. July 2025. There are also various other opportunities to find out about the current range of courses on offer at BTU at all locations - for example on 3 April as part of the Future Day for Girls and Boys in the State of Brandenburg, on 24 May, the Senftenberg Open Day, or as part of the trial study programme, which will take place from 8 to 11 July (for the Instrumental and Vocal Performance and Teaching study programme from 28 to 30 April).
