Successes of the Energy Transition in Germany
Whenever the success of the transition of the German power system should be demonstrated, politicians, people and the media often present graphs showing the increase of renewable ENERGY in Germany in the past 30 years. Very often these presentations are in combination of the “Share of Renewable Generation”, which went up to more than 45 % of the gross power production in 2020.
Unfortunately the fact always is neglected that the ratio of 45 % is linked only the electricity sector, which represents about 21% of the German energy demand. In the heating sector with its overall portion of 51 %, the share of renewables is only 15% and in the traffic sector with its 28 %, the contribution of renewables is only about 7%
