Can software automate steps of medical diagnosis and treatment?
We investigate this question in teaching and research using the case study "Diagnosis and treatment of sepsis" in the Laboratory for Software Quality with Applications in Healthcare at the Department of Practical Computer Science/Software Systems Engineering. At the open day, we provided insights into the results of this year's software project on the topic of early diagnosis of sepsis in a private environment using wearables. A demo in our lab illustrated the challenges we need to tackle in software engineering research in order to also effectively and efficiently support sepsis treatment in hospitals.
