Graduation ceremony in Senftenberg
Successfully completing a final degree is one of life's great milestones. Every final degree is a special achievement that is made possible not only by the individual commitment of the student but also by the support of friends, families and the entire university environment. But of course, due recognition belongs to the graduates, whose success should also be celebrated.
It is therefore always a special occasion to bid farewell to former students. So on 11 January 2025, several graduates from the Campus Senftenberg were given a fitting send-off at their graduation in the Konrad Zuse Media Centre. The graduates came from the degree programs in Vocational Education in Healthcare Professions, Therapeutic Sciences, Mechanical engineering, Business Administration and Engineering, Materials Chemistry and Biotechnology.
In her congratulatory speech, BTU President Prof. Dr. p.h. habil. Gesine Grande: “Today we are celebrating your degree, your hard work and your successes. And yet this is just the beginning. The world needs your knowledge, your talents and your passion to drive progress and shape a better future. Be bold, be determined. Go out and make the world a better place.”
At the personal farewell and presentation of the graduate hats, BTU Vice-President for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr rer. nat. habil. Peer Schmidt also wished the graduates all the best for their future careers and lives.
On behalf of the graduates, Willi Thomas, a recent graduate from the Biotechnology study programme, thanked the teaching staff for their commitment and support in helping the students to become excellently trained specialists.
The event was also accompanied by the festive music of the two students Fanny Schönhardt and Karl Rödiger from the Instrumental and Vocal Performance and Teaching study programme.
And finally, alumni officer Daniel Ebert invited all graduates to remain loyal to BTU and return for lectures, collaborations, further training, as specialists or simply for social events. All alumni can sign up to the alumni mailing list at www.b-tu.de/alumni at any time. Thanks were also given to the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg Alumni Association and the BTU Student Council, whose involvement made the graduation possible in the first place.
The event naturally ended with the traditional toss of the hat and a convivial champagne reception. Afterwards, the graduates were able to continue the celebrations at the Snowflake Ball in the canteen and enjoy the moment and the night with their guests and friends.
